chris mann concert dates

Welcome to my website.

Here you flirten met mannen hoe will be able to keep up to date with where I am playing and have a look to see what new CDs and DVDs are available, as well as read about the history of my career.

Last year was quite a year with possibly my last time playing at the Eastbourne Winter Garden back in July, but what a day it was. The Winter Garden is closed now due to the renovations and building work taking place at the theatres. It was a wonderful audience, I enjoyed performing my show for them very much and I was also presented with a certificate of thanks and some flowers from the Theatres Management after having played at Eastbourne Theatres for 36 years (photo below by Damon Cox).

On top of that, my appreciation society held their annual get-together following my afternoon show which all went very well and it was an opportunity to renew friendships and make new ones, a benefit of such a friendly group. It was a day to remember.

I'm delighted to tell you that my new CD - THEATRE ORGAN MAGIC - has been released and is now available to purchase either at my shows or on line from this website. This is recorded on the magnificent Christie organ at Paul Kirner's Music Palace, and really was a joy to play. Have a look at the Discography page for full details, and the Contact Me page to order your copy.

I'm looking forward to seeing many of you again this year as I travel the country for my music shows. Please note however that the two dates for Portslade (one in July and one in September) have been cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances.

What a marvellous day we had in Eastbourne celebrating my 60th year in showbusiness last year. It was a huge audience for my afternoon show, wonderful to see so many people and friends there for me, and then the tea party and show afterwards also went very well. My thanks to Jonathan Adams, Ruby Thomas, Chris Mannion and Sarah Bryant for their musical participation during the evening show, and to all the many many JMAS members who were there - a great time was had by all!

It's been a very busy and enjoyable time just lately with trips up to the Lake District and Yorkshire playing some wonderful theatre organs and also down to Wales playing in the grand opening concerts at Paul Kirner's Music Palace featuring the magnificent Christie organ.

The two photos below by Erfyl Parry at Paul Kirner's Music Palace:

The opening concert weekend 21st August 2016:

What a great pleasure it was to play at the Troxy for the Cinema Organ Society on the magnificent Wurlitzer organ there, and for such a wonderful audience too. A flirten als je verlegen bent night to remember.

SPECIAL OFFER for my CD "SOME ENCHANTED EVENING" - now only Ј5!! (+ p & p). Have a look on the discography page to see the track listing, and order safely on line via the Contact Me page.

I have now played my final show at the Worthing Pavilion after 35 years playing summer season in the town - it was a pleasure to have such a wonderful audience there for the occasion, but it's marked the end of an era for me.

The two photos below by Erfyl Parry:

It's all over:

I still have a lot of other shows to come this year, including of course my 35th summer season at Eastbourne (the flyer for which appears further down the page) so don't miss out! I'm very much looking forward to all my dates, with some new ones too - such as the Troxy, London, playing the mighty Wurlitzer on the 26th July, and then playing the opening concerts in Porth (South Wales) on the magnificent Christie organ in August. Lots to look forward to and full details of all my public performances appear on the Date List page.

Thank you too to everyone who came to my show at the Dome, and it was such a pleasure to play to you all. Here I am after the show with the Mayor of Brighton and Hove, Councillor Lynda Hyde.

Of course I have also recorded a CD on this very organ, "Marches, Waltzes and Musicals" which is available to buy at my shows and also on line (see the Discography page for a full track listing, and the Contact Me page to order). Price is Ј10, plus Ј1.25 for postage and packing, cheques to be made payable to John Mann. Why not treat yourself?!

I'm thoroughly enjoying my 35th summer season this year at the Winter Garden in Eastbourne, and full details are below and on the date list page.

When I completed my 34th summer season at Worthing last year, I was very honoured that the Mayor of Worthing attended my last summer show at the Pavilion Theatre, where he made a speech and also presented me with this certificate.

At Eastbourne last year, on the 10th September, my show was followed by my Appreciation Society tea party. It was a wonderful occasion, good food and company with lots of enjoyable music.

Click to see some clips of me performing one of my summer shows last year.

Back in June last year, I was thrilled to have been given a Mayoral Reception in my honour here in Brighton - it was such a privilege for me and I was truly delighted. Here is a photo of the Mayor (Councillor Lynda Hyde) presenting me with my certificate which marks my contribution to the cultural and musical life of the City.

Click to read the write up in the Argus newspaper on the 24th June 2015.

There is also an interview with me in the Argus from 30th May 2015.

I'm delighted to say that I am the new President of the Cinema Organ Society, it is a great honour for me. The Cinema Organ Society was founded in 1952 by Hubert Selby and Tony Moss for those interested in organ music as entertainment. For more details, please see their website:

This year, 2016, my Appreciation Society has been running for 35 years - quite an achievement! Have a look at the Appreciation Society page for more information and why not join?

was released in Summer 2013 and is available at just Ј10 plus p & p.Tracks include Some Enchanted Evening, Sailing By, Lonely Ballerina, Love Never Dies, Passing Breeze and You Raise Me Up. See the Discography page for full details of the track listings, and the Contact Me page for how to order either using PayPal or by post. Have a look at the ON STAGE page of my website - new photos being added frequently.

I have various recordings available (CDs and DVDs), including 'GET HAPPY' which was recorded on the Allen Theatre Organ at Henley-on-Thames Town Hall. It costs just Ј10 and is on sale at my concerts or by post or on line: click on the 'Contact Me' Page for details. For a full list of tracks, please click on 'Discography'

·        As mentioned, I have been discussing a possible coffee-table book of Zappa fan memorabilia with Ahmet Zappa. He has clarified that he wants this to be the ultimate fan’s scrapbook, collecting together fan mail, art, posters, bootlegs, t-shirts, fanzine extracts and as many exciting instances as possible of “people's passion around Frank” (as an example, Ahmet cited Cameron Piko’s wonderful interactive map of Frank’s conceptual continuity). I have been tasked with “assembling the goodies” and contextualising what’s there. If you have something you feel should be in the book, please email me with details at [Added: chris mann concert dates 10 March 2018]

·        I have just conducted this with Ahmet Zappa. After our chat, we discussed a possible coffee-table book of interesting Zappa fan memorabilia that might include concert photos, tickets (anyone got one for the late show at the Rainbow?), posters, bootleg artwork, t-shirts, fanzines and all manner of FZ wonderment. Any collectors out there wanting to assist me in compiling this should contact me via. The rarer the material, the better the book! Ahmet asked if I would be interested, and I said yes - especially with Vinnie involved. There are a lot of technical issues and other details to be worked out, like who is in the core band and who would be guest stars, how would the band sync up to the hologram, etc. 2019 (sic) is a long way off, so we'll see what happens.” Mike adds, “I’m so intrigued by the idea. I am already seeing a lot of hand-wringing online about it, but I'm interested in the potential for something pretty dang mind-blowing. I mean, I still have dreams about playing with Frank live - once I started thinking about the potentially dreamlike nature of this thing, it was an easy ‘yes’ for me. ·        Saddened to learn of the passing of Nigey Lennon due to complications from her radiation treatment for cancer in 1998. I interviewed Nigey in 2000 as she was about to unleash her “super-bitchen debut album” and had remained in touch with her ever since. As a result, I contributed to this about her. The one and only time we met was at Zappanale in 2002, a gig I had some part in helping her secure. She contributed her unique take on The Idiot Bastard Son to my CD in 2008, and allowed me to use her FZ-approved master Opus One, recorded in 1970 and based on Ian Underwood’s improvised piano introduction to Little House I Used To Live In, for my album. My photo of Nelson’s Ship In A Bottle atop the fourth plinth in Trafalgar Square was to have been the cover of her never completed album of sea shanties and still adorns her. I interviewed her again in 2013 with Scott Parker for the. She was always very sweet and incredibly funny, and I will miss her a lot. Time to re-read her book (Being Frank: My Time With Frank Zappa) and listen again to her album (), which drew on her musical and personal connection to FZ. [Added: 16 November 2016]

·        Dweezil is claiming that the ZFT (ie. his two youngest siblings) want to ban him from using his own surname and plans to sell branded ‘Zappa beer, wine and yoga pants’. He says will shortly be seeking pledges to aid his campaign to stop this. Given that the ZFT half-heartedly sought to copyright the name Zappa for beer and soft drinks in, this is something Dweezil must already have been aware of as a beneficiary of the Trust. Its more recent applications do go further (covering live music performances, the production of music and music video recordings, etc.), but who’s to say Ahmet and Diva will be any more tenacious than their mother in seeing these become a reality? In, Ahmet talked about Dweezil paying the Trust a token sum of $1 per year to continue as ZPZ. If these new applications do become legally binding, would Dweezil really be charged any more than he wants from us to help fight for his right to use his surname? To quote Frank, this all seems ill-conceived and promises to keep the courts busy for years. I'd certainly like to know much more before contributing. [Added: 12 November 2016]

·        This Idiot attended the UK premiere of Eat That Question – Frank Zappa In His Own Words in London this week. Some have commented that there’s very little rare footage included, which I think misses the point: it’s a beautifully edited overview of FZ and his views on music, politics and life in general - showing that they remained consistent throughout his time. Also in attendance at the Hackney Picturehouse were the semantic scrutinizer, Simon Prentis, and the ever wonderful Ben Watson, who I had engineered to do the Q&A that followed with director Thorsten Schütte (live from Germany via Skype). Talking of which, Muffin Man Roddie Gilliard has pointed out to me that Lot 378 (‘Frank Zappa Portrait Letterman’s Sweater’) in fact belonged to Jimmy Carl Black: in his memoirs, Jim tells us that Tom Wilson can be seen on the cover of We’re Only In It For The Money wearing his “high school Letterman’s sweater”. ·         Since their appearance at Zappanale (with Ike Willis, Ed Mann, Denny Walley, Jeff Hollie and Craig ‘Twister’ Steward) there have been big changes in the ZAPPATiKA camp and the band is approaching its upcoming Spring tour (again with Willis, Hollie & Steward on every show) with a very new line-up and quite different sound and dynamic. With the amazing Jeff Hollie now a fixed member of the band, there is less need of ‘surplus’ guitars and this has given way to much more keyboard interaction as well - between Hieronymus and Fred Händl, all the keys are covered! Band leader Zap Mcinnes puts it this way: “So the instrumentation and musicians we have now has really altered the ‘general harmonic structure’ of the band, and with a totally revamped rhythm section - due to the arrival of our little Italian drum virtuoso, Diego Mocci - everything has become much, much more dynamic and the whole band has worked REALLY hard this Winter to bring it all ‘into the pocket’. I am also enjoying the chance to further explore all the guitar parts for the first time, and the interaction between drums, sax and guitar in the solos has become something we are all quite excited about. This version of Zappatika is, without doubt, rather more evolved than previous incarnations, something I have been trying to move towards for quite some time. Then, when you add Ike and Twister back into the mix, it’s headed for something pretty awesome on this tour.” ZAPPATiKA & Friends will kick off the 15 date Spring tour in Osnabruck on 17th March and go through Paris and then eight shows in the UK before heading back to Germany for four more shows and finishing off in The Netherlands on April 1st. All of the dates can be found in the - and you can hear a sneak preview of the new line-up in rehearsal right. [Added: 4 February 2016]
